4th Graders - After seven years with 4th graders, Ive learned some things, and am convinced that 4th grade is a wonderful age to work with kids.
Heres what I can tell you...
1) They are wonderfully independent in that most of them will be able to read and write. They will need lots of help to develop their skills and to learn to love doing these things.
2) They still want to please their teacher (most of them)

5th grade is great - I just finished my fifth year teaching fifth grade, and I have to say that its my favorite. My kids are old enough to tackle interesting discussions and projects, yet young enought to be sweet and respectful (for most the year anyway!).

Fabulous Fifth Graders - This coming year will be my fourth year teaching fifth grade and I love it! They are at the age where they still want to please the teach, until the hormones kick in.
