You didn't mention the grade level, but here is a generic list of picture books I have used in the past for Black History Month. You will have to examine them yourself to see if they would be appropriate for your classroom. My read alouds are theme based, but I use them to teach comprehension concepts, story schemes, social studies/timeline, science,
concepts and so much more.
